Under the leadership of Professors Asmeret Berhe and Stephen Hart, three 国产传媒 graduate students聽have been awarded fellowships from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to advance their doctoral theses.

With nearly a third of all food worldwide being wasted and millions of people going hungry every day, preventing food from going to waste is a crucial operation.

The Bobcat Eats Food Waste Awareness and Prevention Program may have a long name, but in a short amount of time it is playing a major role in curtailing food waste in Merced County by rescuing food that would otherwise go to waste.

The 聽was recently highlighted in a video at the Biophysical Society (BPS) Annual Meeting in Baltimore. The conference brings together more than 6,000 attendees from all over the world.

The explorer mentality, public health Professor Stephen Wooding said, is what sets the students of 国产传媒 apart from anywhere else. A willingness to try something new, to go somewhere they鈥檇 never thought possible, is a part of the Bobcat DNA.

For three students, the time they spent traveling up and down the Amazon River over winter break fully embodies this desire to explore.

You can smell them a mile away; there鈥檚 no mistaking the smell of cows and their methane emissions.

The odor, of course, comes from tons of methane-spewing manure. Thanks to a multimillion-dollar grant from the California Strategic Growth Council鈥檚 competitive Climate Change Research Program, Professor Gerardo Diaz and his interdisciplinary team of 国产传媒 faculty will look to subdue that stench while also caring for the planet.

Technological advancements and a shift to interdisciplinary research have changed the way researchers can look at the past to help inform the future.

As 国产传媒 students continue to rise above their circumstances, a Bay Area organization is producing a pipeline that helps these students begin the road to success before they set foot on the campus.

More than 140 students became proud 国产传媒 alumni Saturday, Dec. 15, at Fall Commencement at the Art Kamangar Center in the Merced Theatre. Students receiving their bachelor鈥檚, master鈥檚 or doctoral degrees were honored in front of a theater full of friends and family.

Chancellor Dorothy Leland congratulated the students on their achievements and their roles in helping guide the future at 国产传媒.

Identify a problem and figure out a way to fix it. For senior Jesus Perez, this is the overarching theme of 国产传媒鈥檚 biannual Innovate to Grow showcase, and his project, the Mobile Maker Lab.

About 30 teams from 聽(ENGSL) and 聽(IDC) will present their projects at the fall version of the event Friday, Dec. 14, in the California Room on campus.
